Geriatric Career Builders Program

About the Program

The Rodham Institute has long recognized that the healthcare workforce shortage has had an outsized impact on our seniors. With 1 in 3 direct service workers who care for the elderly in their homes, clinics, long term care facilities or hospitals having left the workforce during the Covid 19 pandemic, the crisis has only worsened.

Through our work with the Maryland Regional Direct Services Collaborative, which we housed at the Rodham Institute when it was first established, we have helped to identify issues and solutions

Through a generous grant from the Washington Home Foundation, the Rodham Institute has created a program that will specifically train Geriatric direct care workers which will be the first of its kind in DC.

We believe that for our students to be successful, we have to make sure that they are supported holistically by attending to the social determinants of education and employment
