Founding
The Rodham Institute was established in 2013 in honor of the late Mrs. Dorothy Rodham who believed passionately in the capacity for education to achieve social change. The Institute seeks to apply the transformative power of education to achieve health equity in Washington, D.C.
The Rodham Institute aims to increase the number of Under-Represented Minorities in Health Care Professions, to partner with and support initiatives, programs and objectives of community based organizations that will improve health outcomes for underserved populations, and to educate current and future Health Care Professionals in Applied Health Equity with a focus on the Social Determinants of Health.
Our Story
In 2013, the Rodham was founded in honor of the late Mrs. Dorothy Rodham who believed passionately in the capacity for education to achieve social change.

The Health Education and Leadership Program was founded by Ms. Tracie Bass to expose middle and high school students to a variety of health careers, support academic excellence, promote community engagement and leadership.

The Rodham Institute hosted its first summit in 2014 to promote health equity. Poster presentations, grant presentations, and speakers brought the community together to inspire new directions for health equity in the district.

The Rodham Institute Celebrates its Third Annual Summit, discussing childhood obesity, access to mental healthcare, and the importance of community health partnerships.

The Rodham Institute Hosts Fourth Annual Summit Highlighting Role of Youth in Community Health

The Rodham Institute Hosts Fifth Annual Summit to Promote Health Equity in DC

The Rodham Institute Celebrates the art of Medicine and the Science of the Soul at 6th Annual Summit

The Rodham Institute received an award from the Washington Home Foundation to start the Geriatric Career Builders Program

The Rodham Institute announces a partnership with Georgetown University to further the fight of health equity in the District

The Rodham Institute received a grant from the American Diabetes Association to run focus groups in the District looking at diabetes eye care.

We work with middle and high school students to deepen and sustain their interest in sciences, health education, intervention and advocacy.They are offered diverse and quality experiences in order to gain and develop skills that directly relate to their future goals.
Workforce Development
Increasing the number of health professionals from communities in need by creating initiatives that educate and train individuals to meet the needs of the current and future healthcare industry.
